Play : Empire State Building

We always knew there were going to be massive lines for the Empire State Building, so to try and minimise this we decided to do it late at night which also meant we could do night time NYC city views at ESB and day time ones at Top Of The Rock. Deal!

It was such a good decision…we had no lines at all (it was literally midnight) but all the ropes for the daytime lines were out, so as we wove our way through the empty lines we kept worshiping how lucky we were that it wasn’t full of people.

And it’s not just one line. There was about seven stages of lines…just when we walked to one check point, you realised it was just another stage in a massive long wait. We were so happy to whiz straight through it all.

In no time, we were up on the 86th floor and walked about onto the balmy open air Observation Deck. It was breath-taking.

It was the first time since arriving in New York that we actually feel a bit in love.

The city hums like a giant river rushing it’s path down the island. The air is fresh and the lights sparkle like a never ending forest of Christmas trees. It’s endless in every direction and it’s awe inspiring.

Facing west into the wind you felt powerful and I wanted the scream and yell and exhault in the magnificence, then you walk around onto the sheltered eastern side and it’s peaceful, warm, soul-cleansing. (You little corndog. – Ju xx)

It was a beautiful experience, and definitly a highlight.

PS – we will as some more photos off the proper camera at some stage, but you get the point.
